Dorm Ideas - Decorating and Setup

It is time for you to decorate your new pad to your heart's content, so what style will you go for? What screams you more than anything? Let me throw a few cheap and easy ideas out there for you, just to help give you an idea.

Theme: You can try to go for a theme, whether it is a color theme or a style, and build on it. If you want to go for colors, write down your top choices, and put those colors together and make sure they go together (and your roommate doesn't mind). Painting my not be the way to go with these colors, especially since most dorms do not allow painting, but it is perfect for chair and couch covers, blanket wall coverings, paintings or artistic posters, and rugs.

Movie Décor: Another fun and easy way to decorate, as long as you are a movie fan, is putting up movie décor and memorabilia. You can purchase posters of movies and film stars, film cells, photos, and even cardboard cutouts of your favorite celebrity (if you are that much of a geek) and just go wild. Decorating this way is one of the fastest and easiest ways to decorate dorms and bedrooms, and is a cheaper way to go. If you want to make sure everything looks and stays in good condition, grab a frame for your photos and posters.

Art Décor: If you are a fan of art and the classics, show them off! Art can be a little steep in price to purchase, unless you happen to have a talent in art and design and can create your own. You can always find most of the famous artists and there work on a poster as well, and look great with an accenting frame. If you transfer some art you had already had in your room, be careful and take heed; things in dorms tend to get wrecked and broken, no matter how careful you may be, so if there is anything too precious to you, you may want to leave it home.

Rockstar Décor: For all you music lovers, show your favorites loud and proud! Posters, CD covers (preferably signed), confetti from the last concert, stained t-shirt from the AC/DC concert, sweat and spit from... you get the idea. Music lovers can be freaks, especially the rockstars! Remember to mind the roommate.
